A patient of Perry's is getting a new liver, but Turk gives the opinion that the patient can't have the liver because he drinks.

I disagree with turk on this one, he pretty much condemned someone to death for a couple drinks at a wedding, seems harsh.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with Turk - the transplant isn’t lost, it doesn’t get tossed, it now goes to someone else. Someone who hasn’t proven to be unreliable and might need another one because of it, but someone who hopefully doesn’t waste it over completely optional drinks at a party.

ReplyDeleteAnd nothing would have been found, 2 drinks would never be found in a test after a month. The rules are made for people that keep abusing substances even though they are expecting an organ, not from people occasionally living their life.
DeleteSo yeah deciding someone does not deserve to live a normal life because he didn't fully stop living for years is asking too much from any human, he would have had his organ if he just lied, you're encouraging the worst behaviour by not being flexible :)
From my understanding- hospitals have transplant privileges that may be revoked if they fail to abide by very restrictive rules. The rules are so restrictive because the donated organs are viewed as a gift. They are a new lease on life. And since the supply is woefully limited, the rules have to be restrictive.
